Support my swim for youth mental health

I'm taking part in the LAP it UP swim challenge to raise awareness and funds for Live4Life’s mental health education and youth suicide prevention model.

Live4Life builds the capacity of young people to recognise, seek and offer help for mental health concerns and it also builds the capacity of the whole community to look after and support their young people.

It engages young people, school staff, parents, carers and the broader community in evidence-based mental health education.

Please support my LAP it UP swim challenge - your donation will help more young people to receive vital mental health education and will help save lives!

Thank you

My Updates

LapItUp 2025

Sunday 12th Oct
LapItUp 2025 is on at the start of October! Once again I will be taking to the pool to help to raise awareness of Youth Mental Health in Regional and Rural Victoria. While I will be swimming to raise awareness for all those in Victoria struggling with mental health, I will also be swimming for myself and my own mental health. This year has been a struggle for me, as much earlier in the year I ended up getting glandular fever and it shook me quite a fair bit. I was struggling to get up and about and do all the things I needed to do for myself. School has also been a big struggle this year, starting VCE hasn’t been easy and I’ve felt like it’s all been too much for me as I was struggling to keep up with everything. It had gotten me really down in the dumps and I’ve had to try my very best to get all the way through, and thankfully the year is almost over and I’m starting to get back on track.
The pool is my place to take everything I’m dwelling on, and push it aside for a few hours. In the water, cutting laps, there isn’t a need to be worrying about school or being unwell or all the other personal matters that have been upsetting me. In the water my mind it as ease and I am being me without judgement and my own overthinking.

Feeling overloaded and exhausted was a big mental battle and one that takes a long time to win. There’s more to it then just thinking negatively about yourself, it leads you on to believe other things and overthinking takes over which can have serious consequences.
All over the state there are hundreds of not thousands of youth that are struggling to win against their mental health, often these people will not speak up in fear of being judged, ignored, pushed away etc. It is often why many people do not see the signs or end up knowing after it’s too late. By raising awareness through LapItUp, we’re helping to educate in schools all about Youth Mental Health so that people don’t feel like they dont have someone to turn to when seeking help, and so that teachers, healthcare worker, adults, parents and even other teens can lend a hand and support their mates when in need.

If you can, please reach out and help support LapItUp and myself in raising awareness for Youth Mental Health in Rural and Regional Victoria. The more people that can help to raise awareness, the closer we can be to supporting those in need of help with their mental health.
