Support my swim for youth mental health

I'm taking part in the LAP it UP swim challenge to raise awareness and funds for Live4Life’s mental health education and youth suicide prevention model.

Live4Life builds the capacity of young people to recognise, seek and offer help for mental health concerns and it also builds the capacity of the whole community to look after and support their young people.

It engages young people, school staff, parents, carers and the broader community in evidence-based mental health education.

Please support my LAP it UP swim challenge - your donation will help more young people to receive vital mental health education and will help save lives!

Thank you

Finding Your Flow: 50km of Lessons in the Pool

Thursday 18th Sep

The first dive each morning shocks me awake. Cool water, quiet lanes, just the echo of my own strokes. Lap It Up isn’t only about hitting 50km in a month—it’s about showing up, again and again, when the alarm goes and the bed feels warmer.

Each session becomes a moving meditation. Breathing to the rhythm of each stroke, thoughts slip away until it’s just body and water. The discipline of swimming daily mirrors the small rituals that keep me grounded—like taking a moment with essential oils before or after the pool. A drop of Peppermint and Lemon before my swim sharpens focus; a Lavender blend after eases tired muscles and settles the mind.

It’s not a solo journey either. Other swimmers, early risers, the quiet nod of encouragement—they remind me that community energy carries you when motivation dips.

Fifty kilometres is the target, but the real reward is the calm that lingers long after the towel is hung. It’s a simple reminder: consistency builds strength, and small daily rituals create space for both body and mind to thrive.
